    Impact damage of carbon fibre reinforced plastics

    In this work impact damage assessment of carbon fibre reinforced plastics with different filler type was conducted, damage resistant filler type was determined, low velocity impact was simulated using the specialized software, for the first time material damage relaxation was determined over a weekly period. In the research part of the work, experimental and numerical analysis methods such as Abaqus/Explicit software modelling, simulation and strength assessment were used for damage assessment and performance of carbon fibre reinforced plastics after low-velocity impact. The results of this work can be used in production of carbon fibre reinforced plastic components in areas susceptible to impacts across various industries, the investigation of carbon fibre reinforced plastics damage relaxation will help facilitate periodic inspections scheduling to detect barely visible damages resulting from impacts.
