    New tendencies in city development appeared in XX century. Architects faced the necessity to solve difficult problems. A ll new development takes place in an existing environment. That environment has taken centuries to form and the design must respect any features that have visual significance. One more important problem the town designer must th in k of is the creation of optimal recreational zone. The problem is urgent because the modern urban environment, which is based on new technologies, sometimes is in unsoluble co n tradictions with ancient cultural traditions.
