APPLICATION OF CASE-STUDY METHOD IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROFESSIONALLY ORIENTED COMMUNICATION OF FUTURE LOGISTICS PROFESSIONALS

Abstract

The article presents some aspects of practical use of the case-study method in teaching profession oriented foreign language communication to future specialists of logistics. It deals with the teaching potential and advantages of the case-study method as an interactive teaching approach. The paper considers the process of learning the Business foreign language through analyzing case studies, supplemented by corresponding business role plays. The case-study method helps to create real business situations in the classroom environment. Students have the opportunity to analyze and solve problems of real business, suggest decisions and learn the ways of behavior in various business situations. Considering cases of real-life business situations future logistics managers are encouraged to use their own experience, ideas and acquire new profession-oriented knowledge and speech skills. Doing cases and role plays students are motivated to learn the Business foreign language and use it correctly in typical situations of profession-oriented communication in their future occupation. The case-study method allows practicing all speech skills and developing students’ communicative competence. It makes the process of Business language teaching more effective.

У статті розглянуто деякі аспекти практичного застосування методу case-study для навчання професійно зорієнтованого спілкування іноземною мовою студентів – майбутніх фахівців із логістики. Описано, яким чином метод case-study дозволяє практикувати всі види іншомовної мовленнєвої діяльності та розвивати комунікативні, аналітичні, творчі, управлінські вміння й поглиблювати знання студентів за фахом. Доведено, що кейси, які розглядають проблемні ситуації реального бізнесу, мотивують студентів вивчати іноземну мову й застосовувати на практиці свої професійні знання.
