Environmental aspects of integrating the decommisioned airport into the urban space

Abstract

The thesis examines the environmental impact of former airport operations, including soil and water pollution and biodiversity loss. It outlines remediation methods such as phytoremediation and constructed wetlands, and proposes strategies for ecological restoration and urban reuse. The findings show that such areas can be transformed into green, resilient, and publicly valuable spaces through interdisciplinary and participatory approaches.

У дипломній роботі досліджено вплив колишньої аеропортової діяльності на довкілля, зокрема забруднення ґрунтів і води та втрату біорізноманіття. Окреслено методи рекультивації, такі як фіторемедіація та штучні водно-болотні угіддя, а також запропоновано стратегії екологічного відновлення та повторного міського використання. Результати показують, що такі території можуть бути перетворені на зелені, стійкі та суспільно цінні простори завдяки міждисциплінарним і партисипативним підходам.
